Why am I wearing a Maxipad?

It's a fair enough question isn't it? Well when we last left off me and my butt were about to go under the knife.

The surgery went well with relatively little unexpected going on. The anesthesiologist took it as a personal challenge when I mentioned having an aggressive physiology. He knocked my a$$ OUT.

After awaking I was told the surgery to remove the cyst in my brain was a success. The bandages on my tush confirmed it as well.

Anywho as I was recovering at home I got to inspect the surgeons work. Excellent craftsmanship. He used the third option for a surgical approach and cut in from the side of the cheek instead of burrowing straight in. He then created a pocket and stitched it up. On the opposing cheek there was a tube projecting out for drainage (which was about 20ml per 12 hours). Barry was told they had removed a hunk. Now what exactly is a hunk (other than a rating of 1 to 10 and completely unrelated to my left cheek)is I speculated it was somewhere between a grape and a plum.

Today I visited the surgeon for my one week follow up. He has removed the drain tube, which apparently had 6 inches unseen in my butt (am I really that easy?) He also confirmed what a hunk is, slightly larger than a plum apparently. This of course explains why I am waddling like a penguin when I walk and running isn't an option. Which leaves us with an answer of why I am wearing a maxipad. It is his reccomended method of bandaging my butt.

Anywho thats the update on my and my ass. Stay tuned kiddies for further adventures!

2009 to Date....

It's been awhile since I've actually done a human post so I figured I would do an update on the year. 2008 could likely be a year I just mentally block out of my memory so I was looking forward to a fresh start. The shop is doing well, we are just now finishing renovations we started on last summer. A fresh look with new quality standards is keeping the store clean, tight, and easy to maintain.

In January, Barry surprised me with a rather impulsive trip to New York City to see Equus. We flew in Monday night, played tourist Tuesday, saw the play Wednesday night, and flew home on Thursday. Weather ranged from comfortably brisk to raining while snowing. Naturally we opted to see the Statue of Liberty that day. Equus was remarkably well done with a minimalist stage. Daniel Radcliff definatly made a wise choice to do such a mature role. It will prevent him from being limited to Harry Potter and Sci Fi Conventions for the rest of his life. Yes he was nude, I have seen Harry Potters wand. Also starring was Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter's Muggle Uncle, also been in at least a dozen movies; Ghandi, Charoits of Fire, etc), Kate Mulgrew (Capt. Janeway from Star Trek Voyager), as well as T. Ryder Smith (the voice of Baron Underbite on Venture Bros.)

Upon my return, I got to meet my new Doctor, due to a change in insurance plans. Somehow I went to an ear infection to pain in the ass. Actually the pain was the usual one I get in my tailbone whenever I sit to long. Well much to my surprise it has nothing to do with trauma to my tailbone from my airbourne attempt. I have apparently been nursing a pilonidal cyst for well over 10 years. Well the flight set off a series of things that took the cyst from I am uncomfortable to why is there a an icepick in my spine. Long story short, in a week I'll be having surgery and beable to moon people who ask where. The bad news is this is expected to slow me down a bit for awhile.

While this was going on, my non-blood brother, Mike , had a stroke. It put a big scare into everyone, fortunately he seems to recovering and should be returning to a sense of normality soon. There are few in my life I hold as high in regard than Mike. I am glad that he is recovering, I have a hard time imagining life without him, despite us having separate and often distant lives. Well thats about it for now in the meantime here are some pictures from New York... <lj-embed id="19" />

Today I came home from work and had the opportunity to witness (via TV) the procession placing President Gerald Ford in state in Washington DC. With hindsight of his life we can see how times have dramatically changed as well as the Measure of a Man. In perhaps one of the more turbulant periods since the Civil War (excluding current events) is a man, who at best had aspirations to be Speaker of the House yet found himself as America's only unelected Vice President and President. He was an Eagle Scout, a Naval Officer, and a Mason. He survived two assassination attempts, one of which was thwarted by gay Vietnam Veteran. He was the longest living President. He met an unexpected duty, rought with so many challenges domestic as well as foreign, with a grace and decisiveness that has been unmatched. More specifically he was labelled a congressman's congressman. He strove to set things right that were in disarray with the country. He made decisions, not specifically to please a left or a right opinion, but because they were right. They were the correct and upright thing to do at the time and place.

He's left an interesting legacy and life lesson for us all to learn from.

Also watching the people who came to pay their final respects, you see a crowd containing some of the most powerful and influential people in the country. I sense a great void between them and my own generation. Something to think about, how will history record you and our generation?

What to do if you fall into a conversation with someone about the
terrorist attacks who doesn't believe in retaliation:

1. Engage in conversation, and ask if military force is appropriate.

2. When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"

3. Wait until he says something to the effect of "Because that would
just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not
cause more violence."

4. When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face as hard as you can.

5. When he gets back up to punch you, point out that it would be a
mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would be
awful and he should not cause more violence.

6. Wait until he agrees, and has pledged not to commit additional
violence.

7. Punch him in the face again, harder this time.

8. Repeat steps 5 through 8 until he understands that sometimes it is
necessary to punch back.
